CFP – NASSP at Pacific APA
The North American Society for Social Philosophy invites submissions for its group session at the 2017 Pacific APA in Seattle. The theme of our session will be:
“The Refugee Crisis”
Proposals on topics on this theme, broadly understood, are welcome.
They might include:
- Who is a refugee?
- Refugee vs. migrant vs. immigrant vs. visitor
- Citizenship and nationalism
- Cosmopolitanism
- Personal vs. state responsibility
- Non-profits and international institutions
- Laws, policies, norms, and attitudes
- Human rights
- Freedom
- Justice
- Fear
- Dehumanizing language and actions
- Individual and collective identities: e.g., gender, class, age, religion and intersectionality
- Ideologies and policies of inclusion and exclusion
- Social, economic, and cultural aspects
Submissions should take the form of extended abstracts or papers. Abstracts should be around 1000 words, not including the bibliography. Papers should be under 2500 words.
We welcome submissions from both members and non-members, but we do require that all presenters join the North American Society for Social Philosophy if their papers are accepted.
