Job Ad: Teaching Beat Series Editors for Blog of APA
The Teaching Beat of the Blog of the American Philosophical Association is looking for Series Editors.
First, we seek a Series Editor to manage the ongoing Graduate Student Reflection Series. The Graduate Student Reflection Series asks graduate students to reflect on their journeys as students within a graduate philosophy class.
Second, we seek a Series Editor to co-edit the ongoing Syllabus Spotlight. The Syllabus Spotlight highlights specific syllabi and asks the professors who wrote them to comment on their interesting pedagogical aspects.
Third, we seek a Series Editor to edit the ongoing Undergraduate Philosophy Club series. The Undergraduate Philosophy Club series encourages undergrads to discuss their experiences organizing a philosophy club.
If neither of these series interest you, you’re welcome to pitch a new series about teaching philosophy. Please email the idea for the series, ideas for possible posts, and examples of who you could contact for the series’ content.
Series Editors will work under the supervision of the Teaching Beat editor, who is currently Nathan Eckstrand. Series Editors are responsible for publishing one to two posts a month. Responsibilities include:
- soliciting posts
- submitting posts through Word Press
- emailing submitters
All Series Editors are trained by the Blog of APA. Series Editors hold voluntary positions that provide a great opportunity to build a network in philosophy.
If you are interested in being considered, email Nathan Eckstrand with a statement of your interest and qualifications at eckstna@gmail.com. He will review your application and potentially ask you for an interview.
